Q: Will the course be beneficial for me?
A: The course will instruct you in the correct methods and applications
of plastering, covering, plaster boarding, backing plasters' and finishes,
the fixing of angle beads, working to windows, ceilings and walls, thus
giving giving you the information needed to become a competent plasterer.
Q: Is the centre providing courses recognised by governing
bodies within the construction industry and registered with them?
A: Yes, the Plastering & Artexing School is approved by the
CITB and City Guilds to teach plastering skills to NVQ standards.
We are also approved by Artex Limited to instruct Artexing to NVQ standards
(centre No. 3558). Our short duration courses are also approved by the
Learning Skills Council, Artex and the Guild of master craftsmen and CITB.
Q:
Can the centre offer me an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification)
or alternative?
A: Yes, the Plastering & Artexing School can offer you NVQ and
construction award courses. The short duration courses are instructed
to NVQ standards, and can be used towards NVQ Unit portfolios.
Q: Are the instructors qualified to teach
the course, and what experience and qualifications do they have?
A: There are four instructors at the school with 70 years' practical
experience between them, of these 18 years are teaching experience. Between
them they hold City & Guild, NVQ Advanced Craft, Artex & Europlaster
qualifications.
Q: How many students are there per instructor?
A: There are maximum of twelve students per instructor, to enable
each trainee to receive individual attention, enabling them to develop
at their own pace, as their knowledge and experience grows.
Q: Are
the courses practical?
A: Over the last twelve years we have developed excellent skills
in training various plaster related trades in a strictly practical
(hands
on) framework. There is no written work on the short duration courses
but you are given important notes and information at the end of the course.
Q: Is the certification recognised by governing bodies?
A: Yes, all the certifications is recognised by bodies within
the construction industry, NVQ's and construction awards, CITB, short
duration courses LSC, Artex and Guild of Master craftsmen.
Q: Will
I be able to plaster / artex / dryline after one week?
A: We guarantee at the end of the course you will be able to do
whichever course you applied for. The courses are 100% practical demonstrating
the correct methods of application, giving you the confidence to apply
your new found skills in the work place - speed will come with experience!
